Adaptive Ballet
MBT’s Adaptive Ballet Program offers a beginning ballet class for ambulatory dancers with special needs ranging from Down Syndrome to orthopedic, cognitive and behavioral impairments.
All elements of a typical ballet class are included at a slower pace and adapted to the individual needs of the students, including: floor warm-ups, stretches, barre and center work and traveling combinations. Attention is given to musicality, texture of movement and self-expression with occasional free dance/improvisation.
Offered in sessions as part of MBT’s outreach program. Those students requiring one-to-one assistance must at this time provide their own assistant.
