About the Academy

MBT trains dancers age four through adult, offering classes in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. Additionally, the summer program includes Dance and Drama Camp for ages 8-11 the Choreography and Performing Workshop for Intermediate and Advanced level students, and evening classes for ages 4 through adult.

MBT is unique in its approach to training dancers. Our philosophy is to offer high-quality instruction and professional performing opportunities to all who are interested, regardless of physical limitations or future aspirations. Many students enjoy taking classes and performing while pursuing other interests, and some are intent on dance careers and have spent their summers studying with the American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, The Rock School, Masterworks, and others.

Performing Opportunities

MBT performs the full-length, traditional staging of The Nutcracker each winter, as well as a Spring Dance Collection which varies from year to year. MBT students age 7 and above are invited to audition for The Nutcracker, and students age 9 and above for the Spring Dance Collection. Auditions take place in early September every year.

MBT is conveniently located in Rockville, in the Travilah Square Shopping Center at the corner of Darnestown Rd. and Travilah Rd. MBT presents its ballets at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center, Montgomery College, Rockville.
